I am a huge fan of lithium iron phosphate and I could see them seriously turning the way we store energy on its head. The batteries are not the same as what you use in your toys or remote commands at home. What makes these batteries so unique that they are kept separate?
Now we're starting to see increasing adoption of lithium iron phosphate batteries in all-electric cars, mostly due to the energy storage capacity they offer at small scales. This provides electric vehicles the ability to travel longer distances between charges. It is good if you like driving without fearing that your going pack up (not enough power). Another advantage of this type is the lower probability that before you realize something terrible has happened, it will set your house on fire like some other types (like lithium-ion batteries) would. Obviously the extra weight is also a big drawback and that can make it an issue, for example with airplanes because they are optimal when as light as possible so more power might not be worth adding 2 pounds to them.
Therefore, how do the Lithium iron phosphate batteries work? In a way, it is almost like the sandwich analogy! Basically, these batteries have two electrodes in between them just like how a sandwich has 2 pcs of bread and then they fill the middle with something yummy that is made from LiFePO4 ( which stands for lithium iron phosphate essentially ) While the battery is charging, those lithium ions catch a ride - if goo had feelings it would be thrilled to abscond its gelatin family! - from that jelly (the filling) into bread (battery electrodes). And when you discharge a battery to do that, the pool refills those lithium ions. This back-and-forth happens inside the battery ad infinitum to produce power which can be utilized for some diverse things (lighting, and so on-you get my point).
Due to doing less harm, folks are beginning to get better renewable energy alternatives.
